Welcome to South Linden Fishery   Please send any updates of information, and or any photos to  I will welcome any  information  southlinden@gmail.com South Linden Fishery News   September 2010 Page updated 06  September  2010 The fishery is open but we will continue to have  limited places for the fly lake The fly lake continues to slowly fill up it is fishable, but only for the very fit, and those willing to get their boots muddy.... thanks for your understanding.   For the next week, the fishery will open at 0830, and close at 6:00 pm there will be no evening sessions on the fly lake for the next week....    1 September the water levels are improving, hopefully the lake will be nearly full for the weekend.                 The Ducks are happy with the amount of water. the fish are happy.  We just need a bit more water...            We have had a leak in the sluice gate,... The work has been done, and we are in the process of refilling the fly lake.  If the lake fills quickly, we will again allow fishermen to return to  the fly lake... We will be giving a daily update here on the website. Tuesday 31 August:  The water levels on the Fly lake are rising, but not as fast as we would like. It looks like a few more days before we will be able to reopen the fly lake. Wed 1 September, the water is rising slowly, some fly fishermen are braving the dam wall and doing a little fishing, it is not reccommended unless you are very careful and very fit. We have dropped the level of the bait lake to help fill the fly lake,   The bait lake is fishable, with still large numbers of fish which are being hard to catch today.  2 September 2010  The lake is filling up slowly, same situation as the past few days, we are allowing some fishing mainly on the dam wall, with care.  and some fly fishing on bait lake depending on how many can fish there safely.  We are hoping that water levels will keep rising and that the lake should be back to norm soon...  05 September  The Fly lake is still filling up, and it will not be too many days before it is full.   The lake is fishable for a limited number of anglers, and you still need to be fit, wear your wellies, and be prepared to get your feet dirty.  It is fishing well, and there is a good stock of fish in the lake...  Note: We have been allowing some fishermen to fly fish in the Fly lake but water is still not up high enough to fish off the platforms, if you fish, you would have to fish off of the dam wall, and it is slipery, and muddy and we would not reccomend this for all anglers.  Fly fishing in the bait lake is also being allowed but  this depends on numbers of bait fishermen on the lake at the time. We obviously wish to accomodate all fishermen where possible.   andrew The Bait lake is fishing as normal at the moment,  there is an extremely large  stock of blue and Ranbow trout in the Bait lake   In some cases, it does not take long to get your full bag of fish.. the water levels will be down a bit in the bait lake on Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday until the levels again return to normal. We are sorry for this unavoidable inconvience...and thank all regulars at South Linden for their understanding.    Winner of The South Linden fishery August Free Draw is  David Hamilton Ashington Northumberland  David is entitled to a free 4 hour session of fishing during the month of September or October as part of the South Linden Fishery Monthly Free Draw   Recently , two Diawa rods and reels which were loaned to families coming to fish at the fishery.  If you have taken the Rods and Reels by accident please return them. As a result of these missing rods we will have to change our policy on rod loans, and will now require that they are rented, and a deposit will have to be paid which will be returned when the rod is returned.   thanks the management    Lob worms  South Linden Now Stocks Lob worms  10/box for only £2.50 /box ask at the fishery office when you sign in   of course, we also stock the normal worms at 20 per box for only £1.60   Fishing Report   week ending 5 September SOUTH LINDEN IT has been a steady week's fishing at South Linden Trout Fishery, Northumberland,   Water levels in the fly lake at South Linden should be back to normal by this weekend. The fly lake is well stocked with trout though we have had limited fishing this past week mainly from the dam wall S Evans Blyth caught 8 and kept 2 mainly on a Black Nymph while G. Maddison of Choppington caught and released 7 also on Black Nymph CW Percy of Widdrington caught and kept 2 on his free fishing day this past week also on a nypmh     Fly Box Hares ear, Black Nymph,  Fritz, and Montana   The Bait lake continues to produce many trout.  Most fishermen this past week caught both blue and Rainbow trout to complete their bags G, Dawson of Bednell caught 4 weighing in at 8 pounds.     Fishery Hours Fly lake is open, but with limited spaces for fishing.  Fishery Hours  0830 and now closes at 6:00  pm  There will be no evening sessions for the next week due to staffing issues.   The Bait lake opens at 0830 closes at 6:00 pm last session starts at 2:00 pm   The office closes at 6:00 pm  The Bait lake closes at 6:00pm We will only allow evening Bait fishing if booked ahead with 5 days notice for a special session for a group of at least 5 people (this change is due to security issues on the bait lake)  THE MANAGEMENT   phone 01670 788366 If you can not get thru, please phone in the evening after the fishery is closed      please find below a couple contact email addresses for the fishery. southlinden@gmail.com also   dennismit@gmail.com  the above email addresses will be monitored daily, If you need to notify us of something, or need quick contact phone the fishery number in the evening... thanks Fly Lake Bookings  We have put a Event Calendar on the bottom of this page scroll down to the bottom to view.       Warning       This poster is self explanining..... If you Fly fish, and do not wear hat and glasses, you could loose an eye, or at the very least need a trip to the hospital to remove a fly... It will not only be fish that you catch....  Area weather report         A recent August  stocking of fish at the fishery, More nice Rainbows and Blue trout have been put into the lakes for your fishing pleasure.... Below is Kevin Dawson, our resident fly fishing instructor taking a new fly fisherman thru the paces....     This past weekend young fisherman Ciaran Todd Age 6 from Bedington caught this nice Rainbow trout while fishing with his father at the fishery.  This trout was Carian`s first ever fish....  Well done Carian !       Andrew Green with Trout Ticklers recently when they had a Parent and Child event at the fishery.   The Fishery continues to sponsor the Trout Ticklers   The above photos show a recent August,very busy  early evening sesson .                               The fishery now has improved security This is continually being updated  due to poaching and threats of poaching.  If you enter into the fishery without permission after hours , you will be prosecuted.  Taking fish that Extra fish or two that you have not paid for is another form of poaching and theft... We will prosecute... They are packed 20 in a Tub and are only £1.60 per Tub.  Ask a member of staff at the fishery for your worms. WE now also have a stock of Lob worms packed 10 per box for £2.50 per Box      End   Fishing for Anglers Site      Fishermen, have a look at the new website by George Macintyre which covers   fisheries in the North East of the UK www.fishingforanglers.com  South Linden Fishery Parent and Child Fishing club.  This is a chance for Parents and Children comming to the fishery on a Saturday Morning, and spending quality time learning to Fish, and do many of the things that are required to Fish... Let the fishery know you are interested...           The below photos were the busy fly lake this past week, as you can see just a few days after the floods and dirty water, the lakes are clear and fishing well      G Black from Whickham    5 nice fish caught in the Bait lake.  He also went to the fly lake, and caught and returned a nice Rainbow from the fly lake. these fish were caught in a very short time using worms and a bobble float with about a 4 foot trace........  This was G. Black`s first time to South Linden, and he promises to return again soon.          Ken Watson from Whitley Bay  Braved the cold on 18 February and caught Three nice Rainbows releasing this nice 4 1/2 - 5 pound Rainbow to be caught another day. The requirement is that you need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to work with you on your fishing for the day.
