How long has South Linden Fishery Been There?
Andrew Green Built the bait lake many years ago as a private place for himself to catch trout.
South Linden as it is now, officially opened going on 9 years ago when the fly lake was added in 2002.
Why to you not allow me to come and fish an eight hour session on catch and release, or sporting ticket?
We have stopped all day tickets because at South Linden it is possible to catch 10 fish in a four hour session, which is a very good day for most fishermen.
If you wish to fish longer, you can get a two hour session on top of your origional 4 hours for just £6.00 extra.
We had a situation last year where 197 fish were caught and released in a two day period the fly lake is well stocked, but the following few days very few fish were caught... by limiting the numbers of 2 hours 5 fish, or 4 hours 10 fish we are giving more of our customers a chance to catch some of the bigger trout.
If I pay to keep fish in the fly lake can I take any fish that I catch?
Techically, you can take any fish you catch, but the fishery prefers that you release any fish over 4 pounds to be caught again. The reason for this, is that the larger fish are not particulairly good to eat, and the cost of a double figure fish costs more that you paid for your keep fish ticket. If you really want to keep the fish, take a photo of it or ask someone else with a camera to take a picture before you release it...
Thanks the management.

Can I book the Fly lake for my fishing club for our own competition?
This service is available depending on the day required, and the number of people wanting to fish.
Normal charges are charged for the fishing, and we can offer a BBQ for about £4.00 per head with a meat tray of Berger, Banger, Steak, and Pork with a bun, and usually some extras.
For the BBQ we need a few days notice....
We usually require around 10 fishermen on the fly lake to book the lake exclusive to your group.
Phone 01670788-366 to discuss details.
Do you check my bags or vehicle when I leave the fishery?
We reserve the right to check your bags when you leave the fishery, this is not to say that you are being dishonest, but to keep you honest.
We as all fisheries have problems with some fishermen wanting to take more fish then they pay for, thus we check your bags.
The best customer is the Customer who insists that we check their bags....
We do not check peoples vehicles if you park in the main car park, but do check if you take your vehicles down lakeside... Thank you Management

I am bringing my grand children fishing for the first time, Do you sell Photos on Canvas to
mark The occasion.?
With permission, we usually have a camera available to take a picture of you or your children or grand children with their first fish caught at South Linden.
We like to encourage Young people to fish, and will help in any way we can to make their fishing trip enjoyable.
You can have a photo taken, and for a reasonable amout can have the photo put on canvas to keep that moment... check with staff regarding this service. Canvas photos will need to be ordered, and usually take about 7 days.
Where do I have to park my car?
We ask all vehicles to be parked in the main car park only.
We do allow lakeside access to blue badge holders, and if you arrange in advance, you can take your car to the bottom car park near the fly lake, or down to the waters edge on the bait lake
Fly Lake, The Road down the the fly lake car park can be used providing there is not snow, just follow the road down to the lake
The Bait lake access can only be used during dry weather, you can not take your car lakeside if the ground is very wet, or under snow.

Do I need to book in to fish
Generally you do not need to book, just show up. It is best of course to have a look at the website first to see if there are any special activities on or reasons for one or other of the lakes to be closed for any reason.
Reasons for closure: Lakes are Frozen over, Too Much snow! Private party has booked the whole lake for their fishing today.
Will add other reasons as time goes bye.
Do you have nets that we can use while at the fishery, or can we bring our own?
We do have a number of nets available for use at the fishery.
We do not charge for the use of the nets, but ask you to leave the net at the office when you leave.
We do allow you to use your own nets, but reserve the right to change this ruling should it be necessary. (ie: should there be a threat of disease being spread fishery to fishery)
